The Value of On-Campus Living
Living on campus at the University of Tampa enhances your academic journey by providing comfort, convenience, and a strong sense of community. Research shows that students who reside in campus housing typically achieve higher GPAs, graduate at higher rates, and report greater overall satisfaction with their college experience.
We encourage students to request needs directly to the Office of Residence Life versus families and third parties, in alignment with our Family Communication and Customer Service Philosophies.

Housing Assignments
The Office of Residence Life prioritizes housing for first- and second-year students. To support this goal, new undergraduate fall students receive priority for housing assignments, followed by new undergraduate spring students, with incoming transfer students receiving housing assignments only on a space-available basis.
- Students are not required to live on campus.
- On-campus housing is not guaranteed for any students.
- A student’s semester of enrollment, student status (first-year or transfer) and date of housing application determine housing priority.
- Housing for continuing students is limited, and priority is given to undergraduate students in their first year of college transitioning into their second year.
- Transfer students may receive a housing assignment on a space-available basis and should make alternative off-campus housing plans.
For Spring 2026, students will be emailed appointment-setting instructions to their Spartan email account. Students will select a move-in appointment time during the scheduled move-in dates.
- New Student Move-in begins Friday, Jan. 16, at 8:30 a.m.
- Continuing Student Move-in begins Saturday, Jan. 17, at 8:30 a.m.
It is important that families and students arrive on the day and time assigned to them to prevent excessive traffic and congestion on campus and improve the move-inexperience for all students and guests arriving on campus.
We strongly encourage students to bring only minimal items to the residence halls and not to bring in large furniture.
Residence Halls Close on Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m.
Spring 2026 Closing Information
All residents are expected to vacate their rooms 24 hours after their last exam or by Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m., whichever comes first. Residents are responsible for reviewing all the move-out information on this page. Students planning to come back to campus for Spring 2026 should refer to the Move-In Information website for details.
The University of Tampa’s packing list outlines essential items students should bring for on-campus living, including school supplies, household necessities, toiletries, and laundry items. It also explains approved appliance guidelines, highlights the optional Microfridge rental program, and lists prohibited items to ensure student safety and compliance with residence life policies.

Meal plans CANNOT be changed by the student after the third week of classes each semester.
All residents of University housing are required to participate in the University's meal plan. The seven-meal plan per week option is only available to students living in an apartment with a kitchen (Palm, Straz and Urso).
Please allow three business days to process your request. After three business days, review your StarRez account for changes to your meal plan and Workday for updated charges on your student account.
