Music by French composer Francis Poulenc will be the focus of a faculty chamber music concert at The University of Tampa on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The concert, Chamber Music of Poulenc for Woodwinds and Piano, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Plant Hall Grand Salon and is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, The University of Tampa’s Writers at the University series will present a reading with Don Morrill, Dana professor of English, and Andy Plattner, visiting assistant professor of English, who will read from their latest works. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, 310 North Boulevard.

International concert pianist Laurent Boukobza will give a concert at The University of Tampa on Saturday, Feb. 21. The concert, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Plant Hall’s Grand Salon.

The program for the concert will feature sonatas by Ludwig Van Beethoven, including Sonata No. 2, Op. 2, No. 2 in A Major; Sonata No. 14, Op. 27, No. 2 in C Sharp Minor “Moonlight”; and Sonata No. 21, Op. 53 in C Major “Waldstein.” This is program is part of an eight program series in which Boukobza will perform all 32 of Beethoven’s sonatas before recording them for release in 2017.

The University of Tampa’s PNC Bank Concert Artist Series at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values continues Sunday, Feb. 22, with organist John Scott, described by The New York Times as having “substance, indeed imposing talent … sobriety and good sense, followed by dashing virtuosity and playful good humor.” The concert begins at 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Cybersecurity industry veteran Gene Frederiksen, the chief information security officer at local credit union services provider PSCU, will speak at The University of Tampa on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 a.m. His presentation is titled “Intelligence Driven Cyber Security.” 

The event, which will be held on the 9th floor of the Vaughn Center, is sponsored by the UT Department of Information and Technology Management and the Tampa Bay Technology Leadership Association (TBTLA).
