UTampa Students Excel in National Sales Competition

A group of University of Tampa students received top honors at the Selling with the Bulls national sales competition. The competition took place Feb. 20-21 at University of South Florida.

Out of 160 competitors, the UTampa team of four placed in multiple tracks.

A group of University of Tampa students received top honors at the Selling with the Bulls national sales competition. The competition took place Feb. 20-21 at University of South Florida.

The UTampa sales team included Ava Montelbano ’25, an allied health major with a minor in professional selling; Alexander Finn ’25, an entrepreneurship major with a minor in professional selling; Paulina Larios ’25, who is majoring in finance and marketing; and Grace Yount ’25, an international business and  marketing major with a minor in political science. Out of 160 competitors, the team of four placed in multiple tracks, including:

  • LinkedIn Communication: Montelbano, third place; Larios, fifth place
  • Email Communication: Yount, first place; Finn, third place
  • Winner’s Circle: Larios and Finn recognized for top scores across all tracks
  • Overall Individual: Finn, fourth place
  • Overall Team: fourth place

“Placing at this level requires immense time, preparation and commitment, and I could not be prouder of our students,” said Stacey Schetzsle, associate professor of marketing and director of the Southard Institute for Sales Excellence.

Selling with the Bulls has a reputation for being the toughest test in sales education. All competitors compete in all events, which span the entire sales process including prospecting, networking, discovery and a sales meeting — all in 30 hours.
