Business Savviness Can Pay Off in Simulation GameStudents, faculty and staff will experience the highs and lows of entrepreneurship and compete for $6,000 in prize money on Friday in the Vaughn Center.

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and the Singleton Foundation for Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship are responsible for bringing the event to campus.

The goal of the immersive game is to create the most profitable company and conquer business challenges as entrepreneurs.

Players will grow their businesses from one small pet-walking enterprise to multiple businesses, including a drone factory, a dating app development firm, a robot manufacturer and many more, according to a news release about the event. They will compete to see their names on a leaderboard in the Vaughn Center — and for one of eight cash prizes totaling $6,000.

“Given UT’s strong commitment to entrepreneurship and diverse community of students, it’s a perfect campus community for the tournament,” said the president of UT Entrepreneurs, Giancarlo D'Andraia.

UT is one of just 11 campuses nationwide that has been selected to host a Venture Valley Collegiate Cup tournament, and it's the first campus to host in the state of Florida, D'Andraia explained.

“Students will discover their innate entrepreneurial talents while playing the game,” said D'Andraia.

The competition kicks off at noon and goes until 5 p.m. Participants can play wherever they want on campus and for however long they want, be that for five minutes or the whole day. They only need to return to the Vaughn Center to check the leaderboard.

No sign-up is required; those interested just need to check in at the Venture Valley game in the Vaughn Center lobby.
