The University of Tampa (UTampa) is proud to announce a new partnership with The Davis United World College (UWC) Scholars Program, an esteemed initiative that promotes global understanding and peace through higher education. This collaboration will provide increased opportunities for international students from UWC schools worldwide to attend UTampa, enriching the campus with a more diverse and globally-minded student body.
As part of this partnership, the University of Tampa joins a prestigious network of U.S. colleges and universities dedicated to supporting UWC graduates as they pursue their higher education goals. The Davis UWC Scholars Program is the world's largest, privately-funded international scholarship program for undergraduate students. It aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and foster a new generation of leaders with a global perspective.
UTampa President Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg said this partnership reflects the University’s commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive and globally engaged campus. “UWC Scholars bring exceptional academic skills, leadership qualities and a deep understanding of global issues. Their presence at UTampa will undoubtedly enrich our community and contribute to our mission of preparing students to be responsible global citizens.”
Through this partnership, UTampa will provide scholarship opportunities for UWC graduates who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world. The university will also offer a supportive environment that helps UWC Scholars thrive academically and personally.
The Davis UWC Scholars Program, established in 2000 by philanthropist Shelby Davis, supports students from over 160 countries who have completed their secondary education at one of the United World College (UWC) schools. These students, known for their commitment to peace, sustainability, and intercultural dialogue, will bring valuable perspectives and experiences to UTampa’s diverse community.
The University of Tampa, with its strong focus on experiential learning and global engagement, is an ideal fit for the Davis UWC Scholars Program. The University offers a wide range of programs in business, science, technology, arts, and humanities, alongside numerous opportunities for study abroad, internships and community engagement.
The partnership between UTampa and the Davis UWC Scholars Program marks a significant step in expanding the university’s global reach and fostering an inclusive environment where students from all over the world can collaborate, innovate, and lead.
