UT's Scarfone/Hartley Gallery to Host Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Exhibit March 23-April 4

From March 23-April 4, The University of Tampa's Scarfone Hartley Gallery will host an exhibition of the 2018 Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Award Recipients in partnership with UT's College of Arts and Letters, Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Hillsborough Education Foundation.

Presented by the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, the 95th Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7-12.

UT's Scarfone/Hartley Gallery to Host Camp SpARTan for Ese Elementary Students March 12-16

The University of Tampa Department of Art and Design and Scarfone/Hartley Gallery will collaborate with VSA Florida to facilitate Camp SpARTan, a spring break art immersion camp for Hillsborough County ESE elementary students. Camp SpARTan will be held at the gallery March 12-16 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. daily. 

This pilot arts-immersion camp is geared for elementary-age students with disabilities and will include visual art activities, music and dance/movement. Working alongside VSA Florida teaching artists, UT Bachelor of Arts in art therapy students will assist with making adaptations and modifications to the activities to make them inclusive for everyone in attendance, regardless of ability.

UT Presents Electronics Alive IX Jan. 24–March 3

From Jan. 24–March 3, The University of Tampa’s Scarfone/Hartley Gallery will showcase the work of established and upcoming artists in the ever-evolving realm of digital art at Electronics Alive IX. This biennial invitational exhibition features experimental computer animations, interactive digital work and virtual spaces by digital artists from around the world. There will be an opening reception on Friday, Feb. 3, from 7–9 p.m.

Maxwell Taylor Coming to UT as Studio-F Visiting Artist Feb. 15–26

The University of Tampa community as well as the public will have a unique opportunity to see nationally acclaimed artist Maxwell Taylor working on campus as he creates monoprints for UT’s STUDIO-f visiting artist program Feb. 15–26.
