CAL Collaboration Mixes Holiday Music with Technical Magic

Christopher Boulton, associate professor in the Department of Communication, has collaborated with UT students on a wide variety of video projects, ranging from food competitions to science fiction and documentaries from Ecuador to Morocco.

But his most recent project, the feature-length documentary Life After Life, which will premiere at the Sarasota Film Festival on April 7 and 9, is the most engaging to date.

Over the course of the production, Boulton said he mentored 10 communication and film and media arts majors who worked on the film crew, and over 20 dance majors performed on camera.

Every morning, Joseph Weber ’19 is up before the sun, lacing his running shoes and headed out the door for a minimum 8-mile run. As a UT athlete on the cross county and track teams, which have fall and spring seasons respectively, he’s always training. 

This summer, he’s had to squeeze in his runs before heading to an internship for a company more than familiar with endurance sports. Weber, who is majoring in advertising and public relations, is a public relations intern at IRONMAN’s global headquarters in Tampa.

Aislinn Fallon ’21 has a love of words. The journalism major runs a blog, published a book, just launched a charitable project and writes articles for two local websites. But she didn’t find that passion until she was forced to be silent.
