New Venture Expo on April 12 to Showcase Spartan Business Concepts

On Friday, April 12, The University of Tampa Sykes College of Business’ Lowth Entrepreneurship Center will showcase more than 50 of its student and community-run startup business concepts at the 2019 New Venture Exposition. The exposition will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, which is located on the eighth floor of the Daly Innovation and Collaboration Building. The event is free and open to the public.The New Venture Exposition is the culmination of work of center students and program participants. Graduate students in the M.S. in Entrepreneurship program, as well as senior undergraduate students majoring in entrepreneurship, will present business concepts that began development at the start of the 2018-2019 academic year. They will compete alongside Spartan Incubator and Accelerator program participants, many of whom have already committed hundreds of hours to their new ventures.Cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place in two categories: students (graduate and undergraduate) and Accelerator/Incubator participants. Winners will be selected by a panel of UT alumni judges.While judges deliberate, guest speaker J.B. Bernstein will present to students. Bernstein is the renowned sports agent who inspired the Disney movie Million Dollar Arm. He is currently the CEO and chairman of AviSight, Inc.This annual event educates students and the community about opportunities the Lowth Center provides and enhances students’ ability to achieve their professional goals.
