UT Volunteers Go “Into the Streets” University of Tampa students, faculty and staff will head “Into the Streets” Saturday, donating their time to two Tampa Bay organizations.

Into the Streets is the University’s first main service event to welcome continuing and new members of the UT community.

“Into the Streets gives students an opportunity to connect with the broader community in Tampa and start the year right by giving back,” said student coordinator Diana Lopez.

“It is a great introduction to the PEACE Volunteer Center that has led to many strong relationships between UT students and several organizations in Tampa,” she added.

This year, one group will be serving at Metropolitan Ministries from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., while another group will be at Tampa Heights Community Gardens from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will prepare the gardens for the new planting season and provide food, housing and education-based resources, Lopez said.

Prior to leaving, the group will meet at 8 a.m. for breakfast in the Crescent Club on the ninth floor of Vaughn.

Participants can register by looking through the events tab on InvolveUT or by visiting the PEACE Volunteer Center's page on InvolveUT and clicking “events.”
