UT Announces 2018 Create Business Idea Pitch Competition

Attention University of Tampa student entrepreneurs: Do you have a great idea for a business? Then consider signing up for the 2018 CREATE Business Idea Pitch Competition, presented by the John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Sykes College of Business.The first round of the competition will be on Friday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center on the eighth floor of the Innovation and Collaboration Building and is open to all UT students that hope to turn their ideas into a real business.There will be an information session ahead of the competition on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. in Room 812 of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center. The entry deadline is Thursday, Sept. 6.“CREATE is by far the most exciting program focused on idea generation, business model creation and revenue,” said Kevin Moore, assistant professor of management. “In the past some of our best participants thought of an idea, pitched it and they’ve won money and many have turned into businesses.”Winners of the first round will go on to participate in an eight-week entrepreneurial boot camp, covering marketing, management, finance and presentation skills. At the conclusion of the boot camp, participants will showcase their business concept and compete for $3,000 in cash prizes in a final round of competition on Nov. 2.
