Three Alumni Authors Return to UT for Writers at the University April 17

On Tuesday, April 17, The University of Tampa’s Writers at the University series will welcome three alumni authors — Christian Collier ’06, Donna Long ’91 and Jen A. Miller ’02 — who will give readings and participate in a Q-and-A. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery on campus, 310 North Blvd., and is free and open to the public. Collier is a 2015 Loft Spoken Word Immersion Fellow. He is an accomplished artist, public speaker and educator who has shared the stage with several members of HBO’s Def Poetry cast, among others. Collier has also given two TEDx Talks and has been featured on an episode of TNT’s State Farm Neighborhood Sessions with multi-platinum recording artist Usher Raymond.Long is professor of English at Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV, and editor of Kestrel: A Journal of Literature and Art. Her poems have appeared most recently in Clockhouse, The Southern Review, Cooweescoowee and Appalachian Heritage, as well as in the anthologies The Southern Poetry Anthology, Volume III; Beloved on the Earth; and The Poets’ Guide to the Birds.Miller is an award-winning freelance writer and author of two books, Running: A Love Story and The Jersey Shore: Atlantic City to Cape May. She is a regular contributor to the New York Times and has also written for the Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Buzzfeed, Racked, Runner’s World, Guardian, SELF, Allure, Salon, Wired, Bicycling and Washingtonian.
