The University of Tampa’s popular Fall Dance Happening, featuring popular music and more than 60 student dancers from all parts of the University community, will take place Oct. 23-25. The show begins at 8 p.m. in Falk Theater on Kennedy Boulevard opposite campus.
While the show is free and open to the public, attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best seats.
Dance Happening will feature choreography by UT students. All of the pieces cover a multitude of themes, and this year the students worked with faculty mentors to develop their choreography throughout the rehearsal process.
Susannah LeMarquand, director of the UT Dance Program, said the program is a transformative experience for many students, both as choreographers and dancers.
“They work together to bring an abstract concept into reality on the stage, and then see how dance can truly impact all involved, from dancers to audience,” LeMarquand said.
She added that the program is very diverse and entertaining. This is because many dance students will graduate and begin teaching in local dance studios, and therefore have to hone the skill of choreographing in the style of jazz, hip-hop and tap, not just ballet and modern.
