On Tuesday, Nov. 13, The University of Tampa will host a reading with Tampa Review Poetry Prize winner Eric Smith. The program, which is part of the Writers at the University series, begins at 7 p.m. in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.

Smith is the author of Black Hole Factory, which was the winner of the Tampa Review Prize for Poetry in 2017 and was published by The University of Tampa Press in 2018. The Tampa Review judges praised his work for its exploration of an impressive range of traditional poetic forms while building an innovative, personal voice.

Smith is an assistant professor of English at Marshall University as well as the founding editor of cellpoems, the innovative and award-winning poetry journal distributed via text message. His poems and essays have appeared in Five Points, Indiana Review, The New Criterion, the Association of Writers and Writing Program’s The Writer’s Chronicle and the Best New Poets anthology.
