Care is provided by our team of fully licensed and board-certified physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners, a certified physician assistant and supporting staff. The medical providers are able to diagnose and treat most common physical health problems and prescribe medications. A physician is also available for consult at any time and on-site one morning per week.
Many prescriptions written at the health center by the medical providers can be filled on-campus for a minimal co-pay. This service is based on availability of medications. You may also take prescriptions to any drugstore. Walgreens, located three blocks away on Platt Street, offers a pharmacy within walking distance. There is also a CVS on Swann Avenue in Olde Hyde Park Village and a Wal-Mart Marketplace on Kennedy Boulevard.
The Health and Wellness Center cannot fill prescriptions written by off-campus providers.
Effective May 1, 2018, the Dickey Health and Wellness Center can no longer provide allergy injections. To prepare you for when we do stop the allergy injections, the front desk staff at the Health Center can help students begin their search by providing the names of allergists in the area who are accepting new patients and accept United Health Care Student Insurance. The medical providers at the center will provide students with a referral.
The University of Tampa's Dickey Health and Wellness Center offers testing for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, RPR (Syphilis) and HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus). For up to date information on these and other sexually transmitted diseases, visit CDC Website. STI screenings are recommended yearly for high-risk individuals. Please call the health center at (813) 253-6250 to schedule an appointment for a consultation with one of our health center providers for STI testing. Please be aware that not all STI testing is covered by student insurance and fees may be charged.
