UT is dedicated to make your transition one of a kind and offers orientation programs designed to help first-year students, transfer students, commuter students and international students successfully transition to our community. Excited to learn about all the amazing opportunities during Week of Welcome (WOW!)? We have a WOW schedule for you!
Our orientation program is also designed to help assist family members in participating and understanding their students' experience during this exciting time. For more information regarding Family Orientation and information on local hotels, please visit the Family Orientation website.
Your fUTure starts here!
As a new student, you will have the opportunity to get to know your campus prior to your arrival by completing UT's online orientation program. This program has been specifically designed with YOU in mind! From navigating academics to getting involved on campus, this program will help you familiarize yourself with the many resources available to you as a Spartan. The online orientation program is now available through your MyUTampa account and must be completed to your arrival on campus.
New Student Check-In
All new students, both residential and commuters, are expected to check-in to the University on Friday, Aug. 23. During check-in, you will receive your Spartan ID card as well as other important information.
Residential students should plan on arriving at their assigned check-in time. You will receive information regarding your assigned check-in time in mid-July.
Commuter students should plan on arriving to the Grand Salon, Plant Hall (PH) to check-in between 3:30 – 5 pm. You will receive your Spartan ID card and information regarding Week of Welcome during check-in.
During your first two weeks on campus, all new students are encouraged to participate in Week of Welcome (WOW!). WOW! will feature programs that consist of presentations, workshops and social events designed to ensure you successfully transition to campus.
In addition to the new student online orientation program and Week of Welcome, international students and transfer students on F1 visas will arrive for a special orientation prior to the regular new student orientation program. This also applies to new graduate international students within the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies. The International Orientation schedule is available now.
Students are encouraged to view Orientation Frequently Asked Questions for more information. Please contact Orientation and Family Engagement at (813) 257-1999 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
- Orientation Service Project
During orientation, new and continuing students will travel to a variety of volunteer agencies in the Tampa community as part of one of two annual volunteer service events coordinated by UT's PEACE (People Exploring Active Community Experiences) Volunteer Center.
Week of Welcome Leaders at The University of Tampa are a group of energetic and dedicated students who assist the Office of Orientation and Family Engagement in welcoming first-year students, transfer students and their families to campus. Week of Welcome (WOW!) Leaders have a unique role in helping implement the orientation program, and such as, they attend a required training just prior to fall orientation. Because they are some of the first faces incoming students and their families see, their role is critical to the experience.
Applications are currently closed and will open later in the academic year. If you are planning to apply, click to view the WOW! Leader qualifications and application process.
