The University of Tampa’s
student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (UT-ACM) has
received a Return Path Student Seed Fund award from the National Center for
Women and Information Technology (NCWIT).
This program funds student organizations across the US
that recruit, retain and support women in technology-related majors. This is
the first ever grant received by UT-ACM, and the award will be used to promote
interest in Information Technology on the UT campus.
UT-ACM
will hold a Women and Technology event on Dec. 7 for the UT community. The
event will feature a panel of female IT industry executives who will discuss
their different career paths and job opportunities available in IT.
UT
professors Natasha Veltri and Vikas Jain are faculty advisers to UT-ACM.
