On Saturday, Aug. 29, University of Tampa students will start the academic year off by giving back to the Tampa Bay community during the University’s annual day of service, Into the Streets. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and volunteers will gather in the Martinez Athletics Center before loading into buses to volunteer at one of several sites in the community.

“Into the Streets offers incoming freshmen insight on some of Tampa Bay’s community service needs,” said Daniel Holahan ’18, student coordinator for the PEACE Volunteer Center, which is organizing the event.

Into the Streets has become a UT tradition and is open to all students, faculty and staff. Organizers have space for more than 500 participants.

“This day of service provides some excellent opportunities to get involved and to inspire the new wave of UT students to find something they’re passionate about,” said Jennifer Sanchez ’17, who is also a student coordinator for PEACE.
