UT Receives Donation from TD Charitable Foundation for Career Workshop Enhancements
The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, recently made a donation to The University of Tampa to help the University create a culture of career readiness and career preparedness amongst its students and alumni.
The donation, which is part of the foundation’s commitment to giving back to the community, will help UT create and enhance career readiness workshops and webinars for students focused on the key skill sets employers are seeking out of today’s graduates. These workshops and webinars will include resume preparation, personal branding, interviewing, job search strategies and internship preparation.
This programming will bolster the UT student experience by infusing a variety of specific career-related programs through curriculum enhancement, faculty partnerships, student leadership programming and employer collaborations. With these additional outreach capabilities, Career Services would enhance key partnerships with student groups whose mission is focused on diversity and inclusion, international topics, women in leadership, industry/major specific, life skill development and leadership.
The program will also be integrated into UT’s new Spartan Ready initiative through coursework, class presentations and supplemental support.
Mark Colvenbach, director of UT’s Career Services, said the donation gives UT staff the ability to deliver a tremendous resource to further the mission of Career Services and infuse a career readiness culture for our students as they prepare for life beyond UT.
“We truly appreciate the generous support the TD Charitable Foundation grant will provide for our students,” Colvenbach said, adding that the donation will sustain the program for the long term.
"Education and economic development are important pillars to the TD Charitable Foundation, so we are proud to partner with The University of Tampa in support of its Career Services program," said Mike Nursey, market president, TD Bank. “UT is a great institution, and we truly believe that this program will provide graduating students with life-long skills and help prepare them for interviews and successful post-graduation job placement.”
Gary Grant, UT’s vice president of development and university relations, said TD Charitable Foundation’s support will have a very important and specific impact by helping students transition from college to careers. “We are extremely grateful,” he said.
