University of Tampa president Ronald Vaughn will receive the Citizen of the Year Award from the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce at the chamber’s 90th Anniversary Celebration on Feb. 3.
Bill Yanger, the chamber’s incoming board chairman, said that “anyone who has witnessed the staggering changes at the UT campus over the last 10 years cannot help but applaud Dr. Vaughn’s ability to get things done.
“The explosive physical growth of the campus, the rising national prominence of its academic and athletic programs and the recent opening of the entrepreneurship center, all are a direct result of Dr. Vaughn’s passion for the University,” Yanger said “His selection as Citizen of the Year was well overdue.”
The event, which will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Tampa Airport-Westshore, will also award Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Member of the Year. For more information, see
