UT Organizations to Host Collective Reading of Declaration of Human Rights
A collective reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will be held in Plant Park at The University of Tampa on Monday, Nov. 18, from noon to 12:30 p.m.
The event, which is being held in conjunction with International Students Day, is meant to recognize students around the world who have lobbied to protect human rights.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948 and is reportedly described by the Guinness World Records as the “most translated document" in the world.
The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Sticks of Fire sculpture in Plant Park.

The event is sponsored by UT organizations Students for Human Rights, Human Rights Think Tank and Resource Team for Faith, Values and Spirituality. Organizers hope to make the reading an annual event.
Later that day, the Human Rights Think Tank will host a panel discussion titled “Vaclav Havel, The Velvet Revolution and International Students Day.” The discussion will be held at 4 p.m. in Reeves Theater on campus. This discussion is also free and open to the public.
