The University of Tampa will be the focus of one of Tampa
Mayor Bob Buckhorn’s series “The Mayor’s Hour” on City of Tampa Television.
The show features UT’s growth over more than 80 years in
both enrollment and construction of new facilities. Buckhorn interviews UT President
Ronald L. Vaughn on various topics, including how the University’s location in
downtown Tampa supports its educational mission and how UT’s growth and
development are major economic engines for Tampa.
Also featured is Stephanie Russell Krebs, dean of students,
and Haig Mardirosian, dean of the College of Arts and Letters. Krebs gives an
overview of the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values, where Mardirosian
gives a demonstration on the 3,184-pipe Dobson organ.
Larry Marfise, director of athletics, is interviewed from
the newly constructed Sword & Shield room in the Martinez Athletics Center,
where he talks about UT’s athletics teams and new athletics facilities. And, Cynthia
Gandee, executive director of the Henry B. Plant Museum, talks about the museum
and the history of the Tampa Bay Hotel, while also introducing a special
interviewee.
The show premiers Friday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. and will replay
on Sundays at 1 p.m., Mondays at 7 p.m., Tuesdays at noon, Wednesdays at 9 p.m.,
Fridays at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at noon. City of Tampa Television is Channel 15
on the Verizon FiOS system and Channel 615 on Bright House Networks.
The show can also be seen on MOR-TV on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 7 a.m.
On cable, MOR can be seen on channel 12 on Bright House Networks (Channel 10 in
North Pinellas County), Verizon FiOS and Comcast Venice; and on Channel 4 on
Comcast Sarasota.
