The University of Tampa is again ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the top tier in the category Best Regional Universities (South) in its
Best Colleges 2017 guidebook.
Noteworthy this year is that UT was named in three web-exclusive lists, including: 1) Academic Programs to Look For: Internships/Co-ops; 2) Schools with the Most International Students; and 3) Best Colleges for Veterans.
For the “Internships/Co-Ops” list, schools nominated in this category require or encourage students to apply what they’re learning in the classroom to work in the real world through closely supervised internships or practicums, or through cooperative education. UT offers more than 40 different kinds of experiential learning, including 1,000 internship opportunities, an undergraduate faculty/student research program and numerous study abroad opportunities. In fact, UT’s most recent quality enhancement program is titled “Learning by Doing: Inquiry-based Experiential Education.” Other universities on this list include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Virginia Tech and Cornell University.
Regarding the list “Schools with the Most International Students,” UT boasts an international student population of 11 percent, with 140 countries represented. Other universities on this list include Harvard University, University of Southern California and Emory University.
Lastly, in the “Best Colleges for Veterans” list, UT boasts a generous transfer credit policy for military students, offers up to 100 percent tuition/fees for veterans eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon program and has a VA-certifying official on site. UT has also regularly been named a military friendly university by Victory Media and
Military Advanced Education, putting it in the top 15 percent of all U.S. colleges and universities. Other universities on this list include Stanford University, University of Notre Dame and Wesleyan University.
