UT Alumna Jane Castor Named Next Tampa Police Chief
University of Tampa alumna Jane Castor ‘81 will be the first woman ever to serve as the Tampa Police Department’s chief when she takes over at the end of this month. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio made the appointment Sept. 16 as retiring Chief Steve Hogue announced his last day will be Sept. 30. The appointment means that the top two law enforcement positions in the city and county are held by UT alumni. Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee '90 graduated with a degree in mathematics.
