STUDIO-f Celebrates Two Decades At UT
STUDIO-f at The University of Tampa will celebrate 20 years of
world-renowned visiting artists with an anniversary exhibition
Jan.26-Feb. 25. There will be a reception at the Scarfone/Hartley
Gallery on Thursday, Jan. 28, from 7-9 p.m., that will be open to the
public.
The anniversary show will feature monoprints by STUDIO-f visiting artists. There have been 18 in all, including Audrey Flack, Joyce J. Scott and Sam Gilliam, who participated more than once. Monoprints from several of the visiting artists will be available for purchase through Thursday, Feb. 25, and a brochure including biographies of all the artists will be available.
STUDIO-f began as a way to introduce international artists to the campus and to give the community and students the opportunity to meet these artists in a studio setting. Visiting artists spend two weeks at the studio, working in an open environment, sometimes with the help of students. The artists also give a gallery talk that is open to the public. At least one print from each series is retained for the Fine Art Permanent Collection of The University of Tampa.
Seed funds for STUDIO-f were provided by the Board of Fellows, and the program has been supported by donations and matching grants from the Arts Council of Hillsborough County.
Gallery Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday and closed on National Holidays. There is no charge for admission. For more information, contact Dorothy Cowden at dcowden@ut.edu or (813) 253-6217.
