PEACE Volunteer Center Receives National Philanthropy Day Award

The University of Tampa PEACE (People Exploring Active Community Experiences) Volunteer Center has been named the Philanthropic Service Organization awardee as part of the 2011 National Philanthropy Day Award sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Florida Suncoast Chapter.

The award will be presented at the National Philanthropy Day event on Nov. 16 at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa.

Founded in the 1994, the PEACE Volunteer Center is UT’s volunteer organization for students, faculty and staff. Committed to community and campus service, the center’s mission is to increase volunteerism at UT through direct service and advocacy. Student volunteer coordinators organize on average 100 events each semester, and the center recorded 25,000 hours of community service donated by UT students, faculty and staff for the 2010-2011 academic year.
