March 13 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series Continues with “Music for Organ: Four Hands and Four Feet”

On Sunday, March 13, The University of Tampa’s Dobson pipe organ will get a workout with a program of music for two performers — that’s four hands and four feet — when the University welcomes duo organists Erik Suter and Chuyoung Suter. The concert, part of the PNC Bank Concert Artist Series at the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values, begins at 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The Suters will play several duets, as well as give individual performances. The program includes works by Gustav Merkel, Maurice Duruflé, Franz Liszt, William Bolcom, Kenneth Leighton and Richard Wagner.

For nearly 10 years Eric Suter served as organist at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. He has performed extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as many Asian and European countries, including appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra. When he is not at the keyboard, he works as a commercial pilot and flight instructor. Based at Washington National Airport, he is a captain at Air Wisconsin Airlines Corp., where he flies the Canadair Regional Jet for American Eagle.

Organist and pianist Chuyoung Suter is a musician known for her passionate, rhythmic and lyrical playing. In demand as a teacher, she is also organist of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gaithersburg, MD, and coordinator of piano study for the Chorister Program at Washington National Cathedral. A native of Korea, she has held positions as organist at several churches in Korea and the U.S. and taught piano at the Potomac School in McLean, VA.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m.; seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available on campus, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.

The 2015-2016 PNC Bank Concert Artist Series is underwritten by PNC Bank and the UT College of Arts and Letters. For more information, contact caldean@ut.edu or go to www.ut.edu/sykeschapel.
