Danielle Selkridge Becomes UT Volleyball's First National Player of the Year
Danielle Selkridge has become the first player in University of Tampa
volleyball history to be honored as the American Volleyball Coaches Association
of America (AVCA) National Player of the Year.
The award was announced at Wednesday's banquet on the heels of the NCAA
Division II Elite Eight on the campus of the University of West Florida.
Selkridge, a 6-2 middle blocker, is a senior from Tortola, Virgin Islands,
was also named the Daktronics National Player of the Year. The Sunshine State
Conference Player of the Year leads the nation in hitting percentage hitting at
an astounding .512 clip entering the NCAA Tournament.
The two-time Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week leads the Spartans with
405 kills, 29 solo blocks, 81 block assists, 110 total blocks and 475.5 total
points. Selkridge is a three-time AVCA All-American after making the first team
a year ago and the second team in 2010.
The 30-3 Spartans will meet Wheeling Jesuit in the national quarterfinals on
