Business Faculty To Present Published Research at Annual Symposium

On Friday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., faculty from The University of Tampa’s Sykes College of Business will present their research conducted over the past year at the Sykes College of Business Faculty Research Symposium. It will be held in the Sykes College of Business building in rooms 131 and 134. Lunch will be served at noon and a reception at 2 p.m. will conclude the symposium.

In the past year, more than 100 full-time faculty members in the Sykes College of Business have had more than 100 intellectual contributions published in top journals such as the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Management & Organization, Journal of Theoretical Accounting Research, Military Psychology and Journal of Business Research.

The symposium will have four separate sessions, each lasting about an hour. Each faculty member will give a 10-minute presentation on their published research. Attendees are welcome to stay for one, a few or all sessions. There will be question-and-answer sessions every hour to encourage further discussions of the topics presented. A full schedule of presenters and topics is available upon request.

The research presentations will cover a large variety of subjects. Some examples include mindfulness in Navy SEAL training; the corporate recovery model of Wells Fargo; parental aspirations for their child’s performance; and interdisciplinary analysis of restaurant operations. The Sykes College of Business prides itself on being a premier teaching institution with intellectual contributions such as these making an impact on theory and practice.
