Austrian Ambassador to Speak at UT Feb. 27

Hans Peter Manz, ambassador of Austria to the United States, will speak on “Globalization and International Cooperation” at The University of Tampa on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The event, part of the University’s Honors Symposia series, begins at 1 p.m. in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club and is free and open to the public.

During the lecture, Manz will argue that Europe’s situation is better than it is made out to be. He will address the consequences of the democratization movements in the Middle East and North Africa. He will also discuss the challenges Asia faces on the way to the top. After the lecture, Manz will answer questions from the audience.

Manz is a career diplomat, first joining the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979. Over the last 30 years, he has served the Austrian government in Switzerland, Iran and the United Nations, and held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna. Before coming to the U.S., he was the Austrian ambassador in Bern, Switzerland, from 2007-2011.
