Career Specialties
Nate Connealy's areas of academic interest include the spatial analysis and patterns of crime, quantitative methodologies and quasi-experimental research designs, and police and technology. Prior to entering academia, he worked as a crime analyst for several midwestern metropolitan police departments.
Professional and Community Activities
Connealy's current research focuses on using innovative research designs to evaluate and improve social science and criminal justice programming. He has worked closely with several law enforcement agencies across the country on projects related to police technology including body worn cameras and gunshot detection systems. His scholarship has appeared in peer-reviewed outlets including Crime & Delinquency, the Journal of Criminal Justice, and Criminology & Public Policy, among others. He is an active member of both the American Society of Criminology and the International Association of Crime Analysts.
In addition to professional service, he is engaged in several campus and local initiatives. He has overseen several tutoring programs for undergraduate students working through statistics materials and has been a participating member on both the mentoring and diversity committees. He is also a youth sports advocate and local coach.
