Congratulations, Spartans, and welcome to your new home at The University of Tampa!

Whether you are transferring from a local community college, an in-state four-year institution or an out-of-state four-year institution, we are excited for you to begin your journey as a UT Spartan! We know that you have prior college experience, and UT has designed your hybrid orientation program to meet your needs and help you be successful during your transition to your new campus. From your first semester to subsequent years at UT, our online orientation and Welcome Week program will provide you with information on how to succeed at our University, expose you to University resources, and connect you to new and current students. In addition, our orientation team, comprised of dedicated and enthusiastic student leaders, will assist you throughout the program, help you navigate the campus and answer questions you may have about UT.

Our orientation program is also designed to help assist family members in participating and understanding their students' experience during this exciting time! Your fUTure starts here!

As a new transfer student, you will have the opportunity to get to know your campus prior to your arrival by completing UT's online orientation program. This program has been specifically designed with YOU in mind! From navigating academics to getting involved on campus, this program will help you familiarize yourself with the many resources available to you as a Spartan. The online orientation program is now available through your MyUTampa account and must be completed to your arrival on campus.

New Transfer Student Check-In

All new students, both residential and commuters, are expected to check-in to the University on Friday, Aug. 23. During check-in, you will receive your Spartan ID card as well as other important information.

Residential students should plan on arriving at their assigned check-in time. You will receive information regarding your assigned check-in time in mid-July.

Commuter students should plan on arriving to the Grand Salon, Plant Hall (PH) to check-in between 3:30 – 5 pm. You will receive your Spartan ID card and information regarding Week of Welcome during check-in.

Throughout the day on Friday, Aug. 23, students are encouraged to complete all check-in related tasks as outlined in the online orientation program. A mandatory residence hall floor meeting will occur in the evening for all residential students followed by a social program for all students.

Week of Welcome (WOW!)

During your first two weeks on campus, all new students are encouraged to participate in Week of Welcome (WOW!). WOW! will feature programs that consist of presentations, workshops and social events designed to ensure you successfully transition to campus.

In addition to the new student online program and Week of Welcome, transfer students on F1 visas will arrive for a special new international student orientation program. This also applies to new graduate international students within the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies.

New Student Convocation

On Saturday, Aug. 24, all new students will attend New Student Convocation from 1 to 4 p.m. During this time, you will meet with the dean of your academic college, interact with faculty members and learn more about various majors within your college. For students who have not declared a major, they are encouraged to attend a New Student Convocation in the college of study which interests them. When you arrive on campus, please refer to the Week of Welcome schedule for information regarding the location of each New Student Convocation.

New Transfer Student Check-In

All new residential and commuter students are required to check in from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at the Vaughn Center Information Desk.

Week of Welcome (WOW!)

In addition to the new student online orientation program and Week of Welcome, international students will arrive for a special new international student orientation prior to the regular new student orientation program. This also applies to new graduate international students within the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
