The University of Tampa fully supports the efforts and welfare of all its students. One such avenue of support lies in the provision of reasonable accommodations to eligible students who may have disabilities as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). UT is fully committed to act in compliance with all ADA mandated requirements.
The University faculty and staff are mindful of the diversity of the student body and act in ways to promote the academic success of each individual. Academic Excellence Programs and Student Disability Services are committed to the principles and practices of universal design and provides students with disabilities needed accommodations that equalize their access to the educational experience.
Our main goal is to encourage student growth towards self-advocacy and independence, and we will serve as a source of support and information for the student. Ultimately, the office believes in a student’s right to academic self-determination.
Student Disability Services actively promotes awareness of current disability issues and policies to the campus community.
The University of Tampa uses Accommodate by Symplicity to manage student accommodations. Students who have already been approved for accommodations on campus can log in to MyUTampa and select Accommodate to view their accommodations.
Students requesting new accommodations at The University of Tampa will need to submit an Accommodation Request, along with supporting documentation. For more information, view our Registering with a Disability page.
Free Online Assistive Technology for Students, Faculty and Staff
With students taking classes remotely, it is still important to be able to access assistive technology (AT) software. Home licenses for JAWS, ZoomText or Fusion is available for those located in the U.S. and Canada, free of charge. For those located outside of the previously listed locations, AT software solutions are in the works at this time. Learn more by visiting Freedom Scientific.
