What is Wellness Coaching?
Trained Student Wellness Coaches will meet with you in-person to facilitate a one-on-one coaching conversation. The initial wellness coaching session is 45 minutes, and follow-up sessions are encouraged and can be scheduled as needed.
Wellness Coaches take a holistic approach to personal wellness and work with you through a collaborative and non-judgmental partnership to:
- Explore how dimensions of well-being connect to your strengths, values and motivations
- Help students to set and achieve wellness goals and learn coping skills to thrive personally and academically
A peer Wellness Coach provides support, tips, resources and accountability to help you set and reach your goals around any of our eight dimensions of wellness.
Topics include:
- Building a healthy relationship with food
- Exploring fulfilling ways to exercise and move
- Improving your sleep
- Managing your stress, time and academics
- Prioritizing your mental health
- Reflecting on your substance use
- Developing meaningful relationships
- Cultivating a satisfying social life
- Engaging with your faith and spirituality
- Finding belonging in your community
- Learn about health and increase your health knowledge
- Develop coaching and facilitation skills
- Foster the ability to empower others to reach their personal wellness goals
- Gain career and leadership skills
- Serve the University of Tampa community
- Students will reflect on personal attitudes and beliefs towards health (discuss current and personal health behaviors and/or perceptions)
- Students will develop skills and strategies to maintain a well-balanced lifestyle (create one concrete goal for improving or maintaining their wellness)
- Students will make informed choices that reduce harm and promote personal well-being (identify at least one campus resource available to assist in meeting their wellness goals)
Trained Peer Wellness Coaches apply strategies and practical skills as they partner with you to work through lifestyle challenges and to help you reach a quality of life that is meaningful, self-sustaining, healthy and value-driven.
