What is Peer Wellness Coaching?

Peer Wellness Coaching is a free, three-session coaching program designed to help you create a personalized plan for a healthier, more balanced semester. You'll meet one-on-one with a trained Peer Wellness Coach to identify your goals, explore what's getting in your way and develop realistic strategies that fit your life. 

Meet the students behind Peer Wellness Coaching! Our Peer Wellness Coaches are fellow UTampa students who are certified in Health and Wellness Coaching and trained to help you manage stress, build healthy habits and create a personalized plan that works for you.

About Me:

Hi! My name is Divya Parray, and  I’m from Trinidad and Tobago. I am a senior psychology major with a minor in women, gender and sexuality studies. I really enjoy working out, going on walks around downtown, traveling and going to concerts. I value quality time with my friends and family, and I love getting know new people! 
 

Why I’m a Peer Wellness Coach:

I am very passionate about helping others, especially students. I know firsthand how difficult it is adjusting to a new environment while juggle academic, social and personal issues. This role gives me the opportunity to help and support my peers while they’re navigating their college experience!

About me:

Hi, my name is Maria Silva. I'm from Brazil, and I am a senior double majoring in psychology and communications and media studies. A fun fact about me is that I love everything art related so dancing, singing, painting and more! I also love going to the beach, karaoke and spending time with my friends.

 

Why I'm a Peer Wellness Coach:

I've always had a passion for helping people and being there for everyone in every situation. Being a Peer Wellness Coach is my chance to experience that and much more through deep individual connections to help students navigate and find their wellness goals with a positive, secure and welcoming environment.

About Me:

Hi, my name is Chloe, and I’m a junior majoring in Allied Health on a pre-PA track. I am from Port-au-Prince Haiti, and I have a passion for fitness, travel, reading and community involvement.
 

Why I’m a Peer Wellness Coach:

I wanted to become a Peer Wellness Coach because I understand how challenging balance in college can be. Coming from Haiti, I have learned the importance of resilience, mental well-being, and community support, which drives my passion for helping others. Since I am pursuing a future in healthcare I also believe this role will help me develop a more holistic understanding of people and their experiences early on, so I can become the best healthcare professional I can be.

About Me:

Hello! My name Is Juan Diego Cela Rivera and I’m from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I am majoring in psychology with a minor in sociology. I really enjoy going on long walks while listening to music, meeting new people, and going to the beach with family and friends to relax.

Why I’m a Peer Wellness Coach:

I wanted to become a Peer Wellness Coach to be able to help students to find the best way possible to navigate their personal stress and worries. I love being able to sit down and talk with a person so we can create a plan to improve, to create and build a positive relationship.

About Me:

Hi! My name is Beckham Cordell and I am from Arlington Heights, Illinois. I am a Senior Human Performance major. I love staying active, whether it's working out at the gym, taking a class at a Pilates studio, or a walking on Bayshore during a sunset.

Why I'm a Peer Wellness Coach:

I wanted to become a Peer Wellness Coach to provide others with resources that I did not know were available to me, earlier in my college journey. Life can get overwhelming or stressful, but with the proper resources, it doesn't have to be, and that's what I'm here to help with.

About Me: Hello, my name is Kahmara Angel, and I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I'm a sophomore studying International Business and Finance. Outside of class, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the beach, and trying new restaurants.
 

Why I am a Peer Wellness Coach:

I wanted to be someone students could talk to without judgment, whether it's stress, school, or just figuring things out. I know how much it helps to have someone listen, and I'm looking forward to being that person for others.

Hi! My name is Aoife Scott. I’m from New Jersey, and I’m a junior majoring in psychology. I love listening to music, watching movies and hanging out with my friends!
 

Why I’m a Peer Wellness Coach: 

I wanted to become a peer wellness coach because I am passionate about supporting others. I believe that everyone’s well-being matters, and I enjoy creating a welcoming space where students can feel heard and ready to navigate college life. 

  • Session 1: Get to Know You
    We'll get to know you, learn about your goals, strengths and challenges and talk about what you'd like to work on this semester.
  • Session 2: Build Your Wellness Plan
    Together, you'll create a personalized wellness plan with practical strategies, campus resources and realistic action steps tailored to your goals.
  • Session 3: Check In and Look Ahead
    We'll celebrate your progress, troubleshoot any challenges and adjust your plan so you can continue building healthy habits beyond coaching.

 

Students who complete all three sessions earn a digital LinkedIn Wellness Badge recognizing their commitment to personal well-being.

 

Peer Wellness Coaching is personalized to you! Common topics include:

  • Motivation and goal setting
  • Work-life-school balance
  • Sleep and self-care
  • Social connection and relationships
  • Physical activity and nutrition
  • Adjusting to college life
  • Connecting with campus resources

  • Students will reflect on personal attitudes and beliefs towards health (discuss current and personal health behaviors and/or perceptions)
  • Students will develop skills and strategies to maintain a well-balanced lifestyle (create one concrete goal for improving or maintaining their wellness)
  • Students will make informed choices that reduce harm and promote personal well-being (identify at least one campus resource available to assist in meeting their wellness goals)
