Veterans Admissions

Veteran students talking with an advisor.

The University of Tampa is consistently recognized as a Military Friendly School by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business.

UTampa is proud to serve those who serve our country, and offers exceptional opportunities to new cadets, Green-to-Gold enlistees and career transitioners.

Veterans Admissions

Who qualifies as a transfer student?

Individuals may apply as a transfer student if they have earned a high school diploma or GED and will have earned 17 or more college credits in a traditional fall or spring term at the time of enrollment. Applicants must be in good standing at their previous institution. Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, AICE, CLEP, dual enrollment and military credit (JST) do not count toward the 17 earned credit requirement, but will be considered for potential transfer credit upon admission to the University.

Individuals that do not meet the definition of a transfer student should apply as a freshman.

In addition to the general admission requirements listed in the links above, veterans and service members must also submit all military transcripts, to include Joint Service Transcripts (JST), Air University/CCAF and DD214 (Member-4). In order to be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution. Applicants may submit the DD 214 form to admissions@ut.edu

ROTC

UTampa has ROTC programs for the Navy, Air Force and Army — one of the strongest in the nation. In fact, UTampa is the only non-military college with multiple Army ROTC Raytheon Award winners.

Veteran students are encouraged to meet with a professional in the Office of Career Services to discuss how their unique experiences can best be translated in the choice of an academic major and/or career path.
