The fact you are struggling academically is nothing to be embarrassed about. Asking for help and developing an academic plan for success shows strength of character and will aid you in your quest to achieve your goals.
Academic Plan for Success
Ensuring that our students are academically successful is our main goal at The University of Tampa. However, the SOAR staff realizes that forces both inside and outside of academia impact a student’s level of performance. This is why the SOAR program focuses on identifying all past, current and potential academic roadblocks first and then creates a plan with the student to ensure such roadblocks can be overcome. Each plan differs according to the student’s strengths/weaknesses, major, number of credit hours, personal, academic and career goals, as well as the student’s current and goal GPA. For more information on creating an academic plan for success, please contact our academic programs specialist at soar@ut.edu to schedule an appointment.
You are responsible for your future. Outside forces will have a definite impact on your life, but only you can react to them in a way that is beneficial to your academic, personal and emotional wellness.
College is a time when you have the great opportunity to expand your mind, make lasting relationships and create memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life. The staff and faculty at The University of Tampa want you to enjoy your collegiate experience, but we also require you to take your academic success here seriously. Finding a good balance of work and play will ensure you make the most of your time in higher education.
If we all excelled at the same things the world would be a boring place! Know what you are good at, and use these skills to help you advance in those areas you may not be as strong. College pushes your limits in a myriad of ways and allows students to become more well-rounded individuals. Push yourself, ask for help in those places you are struggling and be aware of your limitations.
If you are unsure about your current major, or do not know what major you should declare, we highly encourage you to talk with a UT academic exploration advisor to discuss your options.
