Men’s Lacrosse Wins NCAA Div. II National Championship

12-11 overtime win over Adelphi gives Spartans the second title in program history.

UTampa’s men’s lacrosse team defeated Adelphi University, 12-11, in overtime on Sunday to win the NCAA Div. II National Championship.

UTampa men’s lacrosse won the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championship on Sunday, May 24, rallying from a four-goal first-quarter deficit to defeat two-time defending champion Adelphi University (NY), 12-11, in overtime at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.

The national title marks the second NCAA championship in program history for the Spartans and the program’s first since 2022. Tampa completed the season with a 21-1 overall record, while head coach J.B. Clarke secured his fifth national championship, including both Tampa titles. Tommy Ortega delivered the game-winning goal with 2:25 remaining in overtime to complete the comeback victory and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2026 NCAA Division II men's lacrosse championship.
