Dear UT students, staff and faculty,

It is with much enthusiasm that I announce The University of Tampa has selected Canvas as the new Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas, which will be known at UT as “SpartanLearn,” will replace Blackboard for course delivery beginning in Fall 2023.

Based on feedback provided by faculty, staff and students who attended the demos and provided surveys, the SpartanLearn Committee found Canvas to be the most suitable LMS. Canvas will provide significant improvement in usability, student engagement, a rich toolset inclusive of diverse student learning modalities, and improved course analytics and reporting. I would like to thank the entire SpartanLearn committee for their hard work throughout this process, as well as all who attended the demos and/or submitted feedback surveys.

We are excited about this new partnership with Canvas as we work together on transitioning courses and content. All information and more will be posted to ut.edu/SpartanLearn as it becomes available. Key information will be shared via global email as we expand this partnership with Canvas, including the next steps, hands-on support, training sessions and a kick-off event.

I wish you a successful spring semester!
