Career Specialties

Ann Williams specializes in molecular biology and microbiology research. Her research lab analyzes signal transduction pathways in normal and cancerous cells and isolates and studies environmental bacterial communities. She also studies and publishes best practices in biology and microbiology pedagogy.

Professional and Community Activities

Williams maintains an active research program with undergraduate students which have resulted in numerous scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications in both cancer research (Wei S, 2009, PNAS) and pedagogical journals highlighting best practices in teaching microbiology/biology (Williams, AH, 2010 & 2011, JMBE). She and her students have presented their work at many scientific research conferences, science education conferences and other seminars. She is involved with the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the pre-health professional students through advising and student organizations, and engages in microbiology related outreach to the community.
