Career Specialties

James Weiner's teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of traditional business practices and the sport industry. This includes sport finance, analytics, business models and multimedia sales.

Professional and Community Activities

Weiner has been published in the Journal of Gambling Studies, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Sport Management Education Journal and contributed to the textbook Advanced Theory and Practice in Sport Marketing. Currently, Weiner is working on a study designed to measure ROI for sport organizations which outsource their ticketing function to third-party providers.

Weiner tries to stay connected to the industry as much as possible. Weiner's network is strongest in the college athletics realm, where Weiner strives to apply practical content in the classroom while connecting the students with working professionals in the field to develop their own experiences and network.

In the academic field, Weiner maintains memberships with several professional memberships. Most recently, serving the North American Society for Sport Management conference committee as the student representative, responsible for ensuring the annual conference met the needs of student members.
