Saudia Wadud is a board-certified art therapist with more than 20 years of clinical experience using creative expression to support healing, growth and transformation. She is dedicated to advancing mental health, education and advocacy for vulnerable and underserved communities, with an emphasis on resilience-centered, trauma-informed arts practices.
Wadud's arts practice is multifaceted. She has broad clinical experience providing art therapy services to individuals and groups in residential and outpatient settings, supporting those facing substance use disorders, eating disorders and other mental health challenges. Most recently, she has focused her work on serving military veterans with traumatic brain injuries.
Wadud is also a teaching artist with Arts4All Florida. Since 2017, she has conducted art residencies for children with disabilities across schools and the Department of Juvenile Justice system. Her programs have partnered with leading cultural institutions such as the Tampa History Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, Dali Museum, MOSI Tampa, Appleton Museum of Art, USF Contemporary Museum of Art and Henry Plant Museum, giving students the opportunity to showcase their artwork in professional settings. Her work creates spaces where creativity and care come together to collaboratively support healing and connection.
As a practicing artist, Wadud uses storytelling and personal inquiry to explore aging, memory and interpersonal connection within a multicultural context. She has exhibited her work nationally.
