Career Specialties

Bert Seither’s background is rooted in marketing, sales, strategic partnerships, and business development. His research interests include understanding the traits that drive entrepreneurial behavior, enhancing the effectiveness of university entrepreneurship centers, and exploring the role of nature-based entrepreneurship in community and economic development.

Professional and Community Activities

Bert brings nearly two decades of entrepreneurial experience into the classroom. Over the course of his career, he has launched and scaled ventures, advised thousands of startups across diverse industries, and designed programs that connect academic learning with practical business application. Prior to entering academia, he scaled an accounting startup to eight-figure annual revenue and founded The Startup Expert, a business coaching and support firm for early-stage entrepreneurs.

At The University of Tampa, Seither served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, where he directed both the Spartan Accelerator and Spartan Incubator programs, helping student and community founders navigate early venture growth. He later served as Manager of Operations for the center, supporting a broad portfolio of co-curricular initiatives. In addition to his teaching role, he is faculty advisor for the Skateboarding Club and remains engaged with the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem as a member of the Hillsborough County Public Schools Entrepreneurship & Education Advisory Board.

Seither’s research focuses on entrepreneurial traits and behavior, with an emphasis on what motivates individuals to pursue entrepreneurial action. His current work explores how university-based entrepreneurship centers can improve their impact, innovate sustainably, and better serve their stakeholders. He is also pursuing scholarship related to nature-based entrepreneurship and its potential for economic and ecological resilience.
