Career Specialties

Jennifer Scaia serves as an advocate for all students while enhancing the co-curricular campus environment to support student engagement, well-being and overall success. She provides vision, strategic leadership and inspiration for a comprehensive portfolio of Student Affairs departments, including Orientation and Family Engagement, Program Effectiveness and Assessment, Student Conduct and Residence Life. Scaia initiated Student Affairs retention and persistence efforts by identifying and assessing divisional high-impact practice programs. Additionally, Scaia spearheaded the development of the Spartan Living residential curriculum to center student learning by intentionally shaping residential and new student living environments. In support of Spartan Ready® competency development, she collaborates with campus partners to enhance students' sense of belonging contributing to their success. She also serves as a key emergency operations team member for University preparation, communication, and recovery throughout natural disasters and other campus emergencies.

Professional and Community Activities

Scaia’s primary areas of interest include higher education leadership and innovative program development, college students’ sense of belonging, residential curriculum, spiritual formation and contemplative practices. She has been trained as a Circles of Trust® facilitator with the Center of Courage and Renewal and in restorative practices with the International Institute of Restorative Practices. She is an active member of NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Scaia creates professional communities of care by mentoring and advising others on their career pathing and sustainability. In addition to serving in her local church community, Scaia is an enthusiastic therapy dog owner and handler, and an active member of the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD).
