Career Specialties

Kiara Pittman is a native of Colorado Springs, CO, but chose the beach over the snow. She has been working in the mental health field with various populations since 2010. She has spent much of her career working with individuals of diverse backgrounds in multiple environments including patient homes, outpatient facilities and substance use clinics.   

In her current role as the Alcohol or Other Drug (AOD) counselor, she works closely with Student Conduct to help educate students on substance misuse and identify healthy coping skills relevant to campus life. Utilizing a specialized assessment, Pittman identifies students’ needs to develop individualized plans of care. This can include resource management, individual counseling, group counseling with her or off-campus treatment options. She continues supporting these students as they navigate utilizing healthy coping mechanisms while encouraging academic success.

Areas of specialization: Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-informed care, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Co-occurring and Substance Abuse treatment.
