As the assistant director of health promotion, Emily Parsons serves as the campus expert in alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention efforts. She is responsible for wellness education and programming, with a direct focus on planning, implementing, and evaluating theory and evidence-based alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and other drug prevention strategies, policies, programs and services for UTampa students. Additionally, she plans, implements and evaluates the Spartan Connect first-year non-residential cohort-based program and the Vector Solutions population-level prevention program.
Parsons is a member of the Tampa Alcohol Coalition and the Hillsborough County Anti-Drug Alliance, among other community coalitions related to AOD. On campus, she serves as the chair of CEDARS: Coalition for Enhanced Drug and Alcohol Resources and Study to bring to campus faculty and staff to support AOD prevention efforts. Parsons is also a Certified Peer Educator Trainer.
