Gertie Mallard-Teal is a University of Tampa graduate, has worked on campus in differing roles and now proudly provides counseling services to students. Simply put, she won't go away. Mallard-Teal has experience delivering individual and group therapy to diverse populations in varying settings, including residential, outpatient, private and community-based environments. She has enjoyed working in the areas of substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, as well as within the court system. Mallard-Teal aims to support students in acceptance, adapting to change and personal growth. Her clinical interests encompass anxiety, self-esteem, stress management, substance abuse, relapse prevention, inclusion and life transitions.

Areas of Specialization

Acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care and co-occurring and substance abuse treatment. She is also a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapy Professional (C-DBT).
