Career Specialties

Kurumathur’s research interest lies at the intersection of behavioral science and information systems, where she examines how people interact with digital platforms, cybersecurity and technology-enabled collaboration using computational approaches.

Professional and Community Activities

Kurumathur’s work has been published in Information Systems Frontiers and Information and Software Technology. She has presented her research at leading conferences, including the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), the Pre-ICIS Workshop on Information Security and Privacy (WISP) and the Trust and Safety Research Conference at Stanford University. She has been teaching undergraduate information systems courses since 2024.

Kurumathur is actively engaged in promoting well-being and mindfulness within academic and community settings. As a certified meditation instructor, she leads breathwork and meditation sessions focused on stress management, sleep improvement and anxiety reduction. Through these initiatives, she supports holistic well-being among students and members of the broader community.

Honors and Awards

Kurumathur received the Outstanding Doctoral Student Paper Award at the 2023 Workshop on Information Security and Privacy (WISP) and the Best Ph.D. Student Paper Award at the 2023 Bright Internet Global Symposium for her research on social media polarization.
