Mariya Ivanova is a mathematician who specializes in differential geometry, with a particular focus on its applications in theoretical physics and the study of curved spaces.

Professional and Community Activities

Ivanova's research background is rooted in differential geometry, which was the central focus of her Ph.D. work in Bulgaria. Her doctoral studies contributed to a deeper understanding of the geometric structures underlying Einstein’s theory of general relativity, particularly the ways in which curvature governs the behavior of physical systems in non-Euclidean spaces. She has worked extensively with Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian manifolds, applying these concepts to space-time modeling and gravitational theory.

In recent years, Ivanova has broadened her scholarly interests beyond pure mathematics to include innovative teaching methods, the integration of educational technology, and the use of generative AI in higher education. She has completed a diverse range of programs, including GenAI Training, Ethics in GenAI, GenAI in Higher Education, and Generative AI. She demonstrated ongoing engagement in interdisciplinary academic discourse through active participation in the Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2025.

Beyond her academic and professional work, she is deeply committed to community service. She volunteers as a teacher in a Sunday school, where she supports children in building strong academic foundations while fostering a connection to their Bulgarian cultural heritage. Her dedication to both formal and informal education reflects a strong belief in lifelong learning, civic engagement, and the transformative power of knowledge across all areas of life.
