Kutub Gandhi has designed games and conducted studies to better understand how digital media can help people reflect on themselves and the world around them. 

His thesis capstone game—Other People’s Money—touches on topics of wealth inequality and was shown in a controlled experiment to increase a player’s desire for action to address wealth inequality, regardless of their existing political beliefs. It won an award from the Serious Play group for its effectiveness.

He is active in the educational game and computer science education communities. Outside of academia, he acts as treasurer of a nonprofit.
