Ryan T. Cragun is professor of empirical sociology. His research focuses on the nonreligious and Mormonism.

Professional and Community Activities

His research has been published in a variety of academic journals, such as: Journal for the Scientific Study of ReligionSociology of Religion and Social Science and Medicine. He's the author or editor of numerous books, including, Beyond Doubt: The Secularization of Society (2023), Goodbye Religion: The Causes and Consequences of Secularization (forthcoming) and Organized Secularism in the U.S. (2017).

Honors and Awards

Two-time winner of the “Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award” from the College of Social Science, Mathematics and Education at UT. The article, “Contemporary Religion and the Cisgendering of Reality” was chosen as the Article of the Year from the ASA Religion Section.
