Introduction to Art Therapy
Asli Arslanbek’s research centers on arts-based interventions for mental health and psychosocial support, with a focus on trauma, adversity, and humanitarian contexts. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as The Arts in Psychotherapy and Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association on topics including refugee mental health, gender-based violence, and innovative therapeutic approaches.
Her work is collaborative and interdisciplinary, with contributions to major edited volumes and research spanning diverse populations, including children, veterans, and survivors of trauma. In addition to her scholarship, Dr. Arslanbek is actively involved in community and international initiatives, including training programs in Nigeria, Turkey, and China, providing leadership and advocacy within the art therapy field to expand access to mental health services. She is the current president of Florida Art Therapy Association.
